Dandeli Adventure trip

Sorry for the delay. Here are 2 cents from my end.

We had been to dandeli at mid Nov. the climate was perfect. not too hot not too cold. Just the right time for a pleasure hunt.

If you are from mumbai.. You can take a train (Chalukya express) and reach londa.Alternatively, you can catch a bus to belgaum. Loads of Volvos are available from mumbai.

The nearest to dandeli is Londa or belgaum.

Go to www.dandeli.com We stayed at hornbill resort (20 kms away from dandeli..into the deep woods) where we booked a tree house which costed 4000 per night. Yes pretty expensive but worth staying on it atleast a night. Amazingly, there is a bath tub in this tree house. Im sure you are thinking how could this be. You've got to see it for yourself.Take tree house no 2. This faces the river. In fact the tree is slant as you go upstairs you will notice that you are right above the river... which makes you believe that you are actually above the river and not above the bank.
If you stay there, make sure that you leave no food items open, else the malabar squirrel will eat them all. its pretty huge.. its tail itself is about a metre long. You wont miss it ;-)
Serious birdwatchers, this place is for you.

Ofcourse you can avail a sunset point where the hotel guys take you for a tea... this place is really beautiful and romantic. The resort guys take tea/coffee and buscuits in a flask and you can enjoy it in the open air when you reach there.

The River rafting is a the most hard hitting experience where you get some good adrenaline rushes. 1 1/2 hours of ride is worth it. costs around 1200 per head.

Also the island night stay and natural water jacuzzi is too good.

Syntheri rocks is good too. Truly majestic but you have to climb down lots of steps and then ofcourse climb up again.. just letting you know incase any of you have knee problems.

Heard that tiger safari is good. havent tried it so cannot comment on it.

Let me know if you need any more details.

for acco.. another one is Milind stays.. but it is at the city so I dont know if that would be fun. either ways dandeli cant be called a city Its kinda rural.

All in all.. If you are not adventurous, This place is not for you

Regards,
Venom

Hi,
I stayed at mandurli forest guest house roughly 40 kms in the dandeli wildlife santuary for 3 days. Probably this is the best location i have come across and the closest inhabitants were 30 kms away from this guest house.

Dandeli Visit

You can even stay @ Jungle Lodges, GaneshaGudi... It has dormitory also and around 1500 Rs/-.

But Hornbill location is just superb and they even arrange rappelling.

Hi

I visted Dandeli in feb 2009. My only goal was to do the white water rafting and get back.
My friend and I took the overnight train from bangalore to dharwar. from there I took the bus to dandeli it took about 2 hours by bus.
Just opposite to dandeli bus-stand is state lodge this has basic accomodation decent rooms ( mind you we did not stay overnight but had the room for the day ) the rates are around 350 per room

There are two major groups that run the white water rafting rides over there One is Jungle resort and other hornbil resorts. Other members can probably verify this and give you more information on this....
You can see just about every travel shop willing to arrange for a white water rafting...the rates are between 1100 to 1300....

the white water rafting was excellent..the staff accompanies you and trained professionals ..it was pure fun ....

Once we were done with rafting we took rest for some time in our room and then took the overnight train back to bangalore

hope this helps
