We are planning to stay 2 nights at Wayanad and 3 nights at
coorg. Is there much similarity between two places ?
Thanks for your reply.

wayanad is more like a jungle with a few plantations and Coorg a plantation with a few jungles. Actually they both border thatsame jungle that is calledby different names depending ont eh state you approach it from:
Bandipur in Karnataka
Wayanad in Kerala
Mudhumalai in Tamilnadu
Bandipur in Karnataka
Wayanad in Kerala
Mudhumalai in Tamilnadu
Thanks for clarification.
Are both places worth visiting? We will be coming there after
visiting Periyar, Munnar , Kodaikanal , Coonoor.

Unless you are a nture lovcer, you will feel like most of the places offer more or less the same to a casual tourist. I woulld put Coorg, Coonoor, Kodaikanal & Munnar in the same bucket -- hill station, Wyanad and Periyar in another -- wild life reserve. You might be better off visiting one hillstation and one wildlife reserve and spending more time there. Especially at wildlife reserves where animals can be usually spotted at dawn or dusk. Which means you will have to atleast a day, may be a couple, before you see anything significant. plus, travel on the road inIndia can be quite tiring. Destinations with water bodies tend to offer more to the tourist. Periyar, Kodaikanal & Munnar have lakes.
I think coorg..right now is not the right time..because it would be rainy season for the nxt 1 month. and the rain is something like continously drissels..and u wont be in a situation to move around...if u r a real nature lover..then u can go for some home stay in coorg...go around for some plantation...

Hi Vijay,Welcome to IM
!.
You responded to a post which is bit old.. No Problem.
1. From Chennai , Take NH-4 to Bangalore Via Vellore [ road Excellent ]
2. From Bangalore, Take SH-17 towards Mysore [Road Excellent]
3. You could very well pass through Mysore and if you want a shorter route [ This will save you around 30 km overall], Take right just after "Srirangapana" on the "Ranganathittu / KRS " road [ A Clear Sign board will be there] . There is one right turn after 2kms in this road which will lead to "Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary".. If you are not interested. you could drive straight and this will Join Hunsur road at a place Called "Yelwala". Drive Straight and that is Mysore- Madikeri- Mangalore Highway !
4. From this point, You could use the information I have provided in this link for "driving Direction" , "Interesting places in coorg" , "Accomodations" & "road conditions"

Hope this helps !! &

Thanks for your comments Vijay

One More info , I forgot to add.. If you come from Hosur towards Bangalore, you look out for a "Left" which will connect to Bangalore - Mysore road [ This way you could avoid bangalore traffic and could save around 30 kms] .. In fact I have seen in Bangalore- Mysore road [Around Kenigere I think] where a Signboard is there for "Hosur Road" .. You could check when you do this trip !
Cheers & Have a Nice Trip
