You can trek from Mullainigiri to bababudangiri, the whole route is very scenic. Then you go the kemmangundi which is again nearby in less than 50 km radius from chikmaglur. In kemmangundi, you can see shanthi falls, hebbe falls, z-point, jaguar valley. The bhadra tiger reserve is also quite nearby. Lemme know if you need more info

Wikipedia throws up Chikkamagaluru (ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು in Kannada), Chikmanglur, Chikmagaluru, and Chikmagalur all in one breath. May be handy for further searches. (I was just checking on its location See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chikkamagaluru_District .)

it's beautiful. Recommended. Coffee Day owner is from there

I stayed on a coffee plantation, Nature Nirvana. Nice people. It is very relaxing, or as strenuous as you want to be. Don't like the smell of coffee? - don't go!

Sarpadhari is the place from where the trek to mullainigiri starts. M'giri is supposedly the highest peak in karnataka and the views from the top are amazing. If you had gone there 3 months earlier then you would have witnessed the blooming of neelkurenji all over the place (its a blue flower that blooms once in 12 yrs.). So either you can trek to m'giri or you can drive to the peak and take the beautiful ridge walk from m'giri to bababudan giri.

All the other places I mentioned are near kemmangundi so it makes sense to make your base in kemmangundi and then travel to all these places. You can even check out kudremukh, a quiet hillstation a little further from kemmangundi.
