Chennai to Coorg - Bike trip

Hi all,

I am doing a bike trip with few of my friends from Chennai to Coorg in the mid of October. I can pretty much get to Bangalore but could anybody tell me how to go from there to Coorg. A google map search gave me a route through NH48. Is it the best route and how good are the roads. I will be staying at the Honey Valley Homestay and want to know if Kushalnagar is accessible from there?

Most people going from Bangalore to Coorg would also include Mysore in their plan since Mysore also comes along the way.

Route: Chennai - Blore - Srirangapatna - Mysore - Hunsur - Periapatna - Bylakuppe - Kushalnagar - Madikeri

I have no clue about this Honey Valley homestay & hence cannot comment on it.

Take the Bangalore-Mysore-Mangalore highway. It has all been re-done in the last few years. Make sure to take the Mysore bypass road if you're not going in there (save you an hour at least). Kushalnagar is on the eastern border of Coorg district, and you will pass through on your way to Madikeri, from where it is easily accessible. Roads in Coorg are sometimes good, and occasionally miserable, with the rains bringing out the latter quality.

Thanks for the replies guys. Since we want to do a one day ride from chennai stopping on the way in Mysore will just take up more time.

And thanks for the team-bhp heads up got the route now.
