Best route to Hampi

We will be coming down the coast from Goa, and am wondering if it's easier to go from Goa to Hampi or from Gokarna to Hampi?
Thanks for any advice.

Easier from Goa.

Bus from Panjim or train from Madgaon (see details in 'train information' thread.)

When i did this route i took a train halfway to Gadag, checked out the awesome surrounding temples for a night, then took an interesting bus journey to hampi.

Thanks, what about from hampi/hospet to gokarna? I'm having trouble finding a train that does this route? or is it only buses that do this journey?

Thanks again

The train line has been laid such that you will be practically going to Goa to change to a Konkan Railway train, which then will take you to Gokarna [station is madangeri, where many trains do not halt].

Alternatively, you take a train from Hospet to Hubli... then bus it from Hubli onwards
