Beach homestay in Karnataka?
We will be arriving in Mangalore on Dec 20th and have a few days free before going to Madikeri. Any suggestions as to a nice beach homestay somewhere south of Mangalore for a few days? (or even somewhere to the north if that might offer more opportunities).
Thanks. |

Someshwar beach next to the Netravati river is good, I am told. There are some places to stay, resorts. Havent been there. Yesterday,I happened to enquire from a friend for my next visit. He knew just this much.
It is raining in Madikeri even now. The waterfalls are good at this time. I like the Kakkabe region for stay. It is a laid back place with great walks and proximity to Tala Cauvery unlike the busy town atmosphere of Madikeri, unless you are headed to an out of town homestay. Going there tomorrow, again.

Should you wish to stay in Northern Kerala in a homestay, I have heard very good reports of the Costa Malabari near to Kannur.

Silver Sands is not exactly a home-stay, but rather a small family-run resort just north of Malpe, about an hour or so north of Mangalore. See my review here plus comments about visiting St Mary's Island near Malpe.

Are there any beach homestays around Mangalore? I would doubt that. I have never come across any till now. I think there is some restriction on setting up any form of housing/acco close to the beach after the Tsunami in East Asia few years back.
The places I know off are: 1. The resort at Malpe - 2 stars (according to my rating )2. RNS at Murdeshwar - 1.5 stars 3. Another resort at Om Beach in Gokarna - 2.5 stars All the above are regular/commercial resort like places & not really homely. Do publish the info which you may gather about decent cost effective places to stay along the beach.
