As per what I heard last there is trouble only on the Theni-Kumily highway, and there are no issues in going through Walayar on NH47. (There has been a call by some TN political parties for a road blockade on the 21st Dec, so better to avoid if you're travelling around that date)Mysore-Gudalur-Nilambur-Pattambi is an option. The entry to Kerala is from Tamilnadu on this route also, but there hasn't been any reports of trouble here also, and the roads are quite decent.
The route via Mysore-Gundlupet-Sulthanbathery-Calicut avoids travel through TN totally, but the Thamarassery ghats between Wayanad and Calicut wasn't in great shape last month - heard they were doing some patchup here, but not sure how much of it is complete. Also you could be travelling at least 100 kms extra if you take this route.
Cynic has already provided the complete options.
I would like to add, you can still go via Gundlupet-Gudalur-Nilambur as you will be hardly 25 kms onto Tamilnadu but Gudalur is a place dominated by Keralites only with less Tamil folks. So no problems in taking this route. In Newspapers, there is a mention of severe unrest around Gudalur (But this Gudalur is near Theni/cumbum and not the Nilgiris-Gudalur).
Even otherwise, I did not read disturbances around NH-47 also. So either of the routes are ok.
Gundlupet-Calicut route is bit toooo circuitous as already you have a longg travel planned (Bangalore-Pathanamthitta).
Hope this is of some help
