Bangalore to Kabini to Cochin
Hello all, advice on the following would be appreciated
Arrive Bangalore at 22:30 (internal flight). We want to spend two nights in Kabini, Some questions 1. Has anyone used the retiring rooms in Bangalore train station, are they comfortable for a few hours sleep? And if arriving at 23:30 would it still be possible to get one. If one isn't available is the train station ok to hang out in for 5/6 hrs. 2. Would it be better to just hire a cab for the whole trip in Bangalore when we arrive at the airport and travel immediately to Mysore or even direct to Kabini? Can you recommend a travel agent who we could arrange this with before we arrive? 3. Please estimate how much a cab would cost for the following Day 1 Arrive in Mysore via train or bus Day 2 Mysore to Kabini (Cab) Day 3 (stay in Kabini) (Cab) Day 4 Kabini to Calicut (Cab) From Calicut we will travel to Cochin via Train 4. What is the travel time from Kabini to Calicut? 5. Is Calicut the best option for stop off between Kabini and Cochin? The only reason I have picked Calicut is that it would seem to be the logical place to get the train but if there was somewhere close to Calicut that you would recommend I would be happy to hear of it. Perhaps Kannur would be better, it looks shorter on the Map. Thank you in advance. |

Would not advise the retiring rooms...there are lots of hotels around the railway station...
also, at around 10 kms or so there are hotels like ajantha, brindavan on mg road...recommended to take them. Would recommend taking an early morning cab out.....so you can spend quality time in kabini....if u take bus to mysore u will reach kabini later in the evening...do note that any which way, the travel company will charge you for the empty return from calicut to bangalore.. As fas as my knowledge goes, calicut would be the nearest ideal spot for catching a train.. ribhu |

Thank you for the advice. I had not thought about the car cost to return to Mysore.
Is there a bus service from Kabini to Calicut? |

Hi trocaire,
The check in at kabini is 12 noon so i advice you to be their around that time so that you dont miss their good lunch at GHOL GAHR. Option 1 You can take bus from mysore to coimbatore around 5 hours journey and catch a train to cochin. Option 2 You can board a direct bus to cochin from mysore. Option 3 Their is a direct train from bangalore to cochin. You can come back to bangalore from kabini and then take a overnight train to cochin. Option 4 Take a bus to calicut from mysore and then board a bus/train to cochin Their is no direct bus to calicut, you have to change a lot buses to reach calicut from kabini. |
