Bangalore to Belur, Halebid and Sringeri
Hi all,
I wish to drive out of Bangalore this Christmas holidays. I plan to visit Belur, Helebid and Sringeri with my family that has two school going kids. I wonder if anyone can give me some information. The plan is to visit Belur and Halebid on day 1 and reach Chikmagalur that night. The next morning we plan to visit Sringeri and then come back to Chikmagalur. The 3rd day, we plan to spend in Chikmagalur. Questions: 1. Can anyone see any problem with the plan? 2. Is there a better alternative? Note: I do not want to cramp my days with visits. I do not want to rush from one place to another to clock up maximum sites in 3 days. Thanks. Amitabh Last edited by Amitabh1702 : Dec 15th, 2007 at 16:55. Reason: Typo |

Belur and Halebid are lovely to visit and perfectly doable in one day. Not sure about the other places.

Sravanabelagola is in roughly the same direction. Very much worth a visit.

1. No
2. Sufficient time. The trip can be done comfortably in 3 days. |

O yes, I missed Sravana! Cleanest accomodation in India at very reasonable prices (and a funny naked guy standing 30 feet tall).

Thank you all for the responses. The room is booked (Hoysala Village Resort) and the bags are packed. I intend to explore as mush as possible and since I am driving down will try to take the raods less taken (after I am done with Belur, Halebid and Shravanabelagola (Hans! That funny naked guy :-) is a monolith of Bahubali - a king who gave up his kingdom and became a Jain ascetic)
Will post my experience on return. Amitabh |

The pictures of our trip to Belur, Halebeedu and Shravanabelagola are in. One needs to access http://aerospacesoftware.typepad.com (that's my blog) and you will see the pictures (with small commentary) on the left panel.
Thanks Amitabh |
