Bangalore Ram-Navami Music Fest

There are a lot of carnatic and hindustani concerts happening now in Bangalore. Around this time of the year (during Ram Navami) classical music fests are held in many places in Bangalore. Started this thread to keep people posted about upcoming concerts.

Sri Rama Seva Mandali Music Fest - Fort High School grounds
This is a month long fest with concerts take place everyday evening (From 7th April to 14th May). Not so famous artists play from 5-6pm and from 6:30 to 9:30pm its time for the masters .
Upcoming performances include -
Bombay Jayashree
U Shrinivas
Vishwa Mohan Bhat
Ganesh-Kumaresh
Yesudas
Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan
Unnikrishnan
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan

This is just a sample list. I can give a daily concert schedule if people are interested. The season tickets for the entire month are priced at Rs. 100, 300 and 600. You can also purchase tickets for any particular day which come at throw-away prices.

There are also concerts happening in Sheshadripuram where entry is free. I dont have the program list for this event. If anybody can add to this info it would be great.

went and saw unnikrishnan [carnatic vocal] here yesterday at shanmukhananda hall, bombay~..he was good but his accompanists in ghatam and mridamgam played lights out. extremely good and the kutcheri went for 4 hours with so many requests coming in.

out of your lineup in bangalore; the definitely-not-to-be-missed category will be Ganesh-Kumaresh [Violin duet], U Srinivas [Mandolin] and Amjad Ali Khan [Sitar]

wish i could be there~

Havent been to Unnikrishnan concert yet. Yeah heard he is very good. 4 hours? Thats great!
Already saw 3 concerts over weekend. Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone) on Friday and a Carnatic and Hindustani Jugalbandi by Sheshachary and Sanjeev Abhyankar on Saturday. Both the days were scorching good.

Had been to Ganesh Kumaresh concert last year and didnt know anything about them before. And boy, was i blown over. Easily one of the best concerts i have been to.

I thought Amjad Ali khan was on Sarod

yes my typo...sarod!..been listening to sitar this morning ...

i love ganesh-kumaresh...their energy, bubbling enthu and aura...i can listen to them for hours!!!..

sanjeev abhyankar has one of the best voices for current young hindustani artists...suresh wadkar is another crystal voice but he is more into other stuff

yes unnikrishnan was good and his accompanists in ghatam and mridamgam took him to a different plane... i dont know though..after going lately to seshagopalan and sanjay subramanium...he is the third on the list!..

yeah the mammi's wouldnt let him easily...he was on for 4 hours!!!!!!! can you believe that?...

If it went on for 4 hours then i can understand what the audience must have gone through. Not many concerts extend like that. I had the privilage of being in one such concert few years back. And it was Viswa Mohan Bhat's!! That too went on to nearly 4 hours. Just cant wait to watch him again
