Accomodation in Hampi, Karnataka

If you're venturing out to the small town of Hampi, which is very beautiful and well worth a look, there is a place called the Goan Corner that you should visit. It's across the river (most accomodation over there is cheaper than the main town, and better quality) on what is known as 'Hampi Island'. Follow your nose off the boat and ask for the Goan Corner. It's a 10 minute walk around the paddy's. Shamilla, the owner, will give you a warm welcome and do her best to find a bed that suits your budget. You can rent a room in her house for 300rp a night, or sleep on the roof under the stars for 50rp a night! The restaurant is great and the huts (225rp) are clean and good value.

Sounds great. Do you know is it possible to eat vegan there ( I mean no butter, diary and eggs ) without any problems?

There is a really good range of Indian food..as well as the usual mix of Israli, Italian and English... they are pretty flexible so I'd go along and ask. There are a few nice places nearby too (across the river also) so you can shop about.
