Accommodation in chikmagalur

Hello Friends,

I wish to travel to chikmagalur in the last week of october. I have a few queries for which I seek help from this group.

1. Are there any public transportation available from bangalore to chikmagalur?

2. What are the accommodation options there? I'd prefer budget accommodation or homestays. If possible, please share relevant contact nos.

3. I prefer to go there on Saturday and then leave by late sunday, so as to reach Bangalore on sunday night. Please advise if this is possible (and also suitable) or I need to stay longer.

Thanks in advance, for all help and information..
Anirban.

Hello

1. Yes, you will find good enough public transport. KSRTC has all ranges of busses to chikmangalore including Airavath (Volvo AC Coaches)

2. I believe Accommodations vary from cheap home stays to considerably costlier places (http://www.eagleeyeholidays.com/, www.woodwayhomestay.com). Try to get the list and other details from http://www.inasra.com/

Hopefully you will have a wonderful weekend. This maybe of help http://wikitravel.org/en/Chikmagalur

FYI - Pl. ensure that you book your bus tickets for your specific bus (unless you are willing to take any bus which comes - i.e., ordinary). Rajahamsa buses tend to run full at nights these days & may not get a ticket if you try to go & board the bus at the last min.

Also, how do you plan to go around there? rent a car? You cant rely on any form of public transport there. If you are just going for a relaxing homestay resting, then your homestay would arrange your pickup & drop (I would assume). If you plan to visit any places around, you may have to rent a cab.
