10 days in Mysore
10 days in Mysore
Namaste to everybody!
I have already opened a thread here: Family hotel in Mysore
but I thought that maybe here I will have more chances of getting some answers to my questions.
I will post them here, too.
We will have 14 days at our disposal, but we must keep two days for the trip from Romania to India and another two days for the return trip.
How do we get from New Delhi (airport) to Mysore? I looked at the trains, but the search showed me a 36-hour train trip. Is it really so?
Out of our 10 days available for Mysore, should we spend some time in other close places as well? Where?
How is the weather in Mysore, when is the best time to visit?
I know that the best time periods - generally - are October-November and February-March, but we may not be able to free these time windows (jobs and all).
How about August-September? Is it hot? Is it rainy?
Where I live, it's been hot (summer hot) for 3 weeks already (around 30 degrees Celsius). It will get hotter in June-July-August (up to 45 degrees).

Mysore has a great climate. Even the summers are not so hot. During August , September it would be pleasant to visit. We can go to Ooty a nearby hillstation or Madikeri (Coorg) another one. However, be advised that, since its monsoon in the timeframe you have mentioned it will be raining in the hill stations predominantly. However, no need to be worry about the same in Mysore. You can manage just fine.
Let me know if you need any other details regarding Mys. Glad to help & welcome to India!

Costs
Thank you, guys, please do add details.
n_siva, it's a looong journey by train.
So now I'm looking for flights.
If we fly Bucharest - New Delhi, then we have to fly again New Delhi - Bangalore, then take the bus to Mysore. The flights would cost us around 2,100 EUR. And the time between the flights is long (Bucharest - New Delhi is not a straight flight, there is at least one stop - a long one).
If we fly Bucharest - Bangalore, one stop on the way, the time spent between the flights is shorter (don't remember exactly now, 6 hours, I guess), and then take the bus to Mysore, the cost of the flights is around 2,300 EUR.
For all three of us, round trip, airport fees included.
So I'll be thinking about that - cheaper, but longer time, more expensive, but shorter time, especially because of our little one.
Now, I keep seeing this on the websites I accessed:
The price of the room may not include some extra fees.
What are those extra fees? The foreigner tax? Anything else?
