Which Hotel in Jodhpur?

I have short-listed these places to stay, during my upcoming holiday in Jodhpur:
1 Ratan Vilas
2 Saji Sanwri Guest House
3 Durag Niwas Guest House
4 Singhvi's Haveli

Please help me decide which one to choose, for 2 nights.
Thank you.

I can throughly recommend Ratan Vilas.
We stayed there in April for 3 nights and wish it was more.
There's a couple of photos of two of the courtyards in my gallery.
All the staff were friendly and attentive, although not too much. We had a couple of chats with the family who owned the place and they were nice too.

I felt that it was a real haven once you went through the gates and into the sweeping drive that ends at the small lawns where you could while away any spare time. I preferred the veranda for a drink in the afternoon.

It has an indoor restaurant but mainly dinner is served in the courtyard. The restaurant served very nice food, we ate dinner there twice and on the night we didn't, we wished we had.

The room we had was right next to the indoor restaurant and it was huge, which being a family of four we very much appreciated.

I really like the way they did their internet PC too. Just write down the times in the book and your room number and pay at the end. Very easy, not that it was particularly cheap though.

The only downside is that it doesn't have a view of the fort and a downside (or upside) is that its a distance from most of the other hotels. We happily walked around the area without any hassle at all, no touts or hawkers, just a few strange looks.

Thanks for your detailed review. I think I'll go ahead and book this place - it is right at the top of my selection.
Is the location difficult to reach?

I'm sure you'll like it, unless you like those soulless hotels

I think this is the Ratan Vilas here in Google Maps but we had a driver so I didn't pay too much attention. It never seemed to be much hassle getting to the fort or Mandore Gardens and elsewhere.
The area around the hotel seemed very open and not too busy. I even go the say that I would be happy to drive around the area. I wouldn't say that about many of the cities we stayed in.

Ratan Vilas has hiked its rates drastically.
Now I'm looking at other options in the under INR 1000 range.
Any suggestions?

We have stayed several times in Durag Niwas, there are a lot of reviews in the hotel section.

Thanks for your suggestion, Vonkla.

Durag Niwas is apparently sold out, as per their e-mail I have got.

Has anyone here ever stayed at the Blue House GH or at Shivam PG house?
Which one is fine in terms of location, cleanliness, fort view, crowd, etc?

Thanks

I stayed in Shivam last september, and thought it was great.

The location is good (it's close to the clock tower), although i'm sure some people will find living in the center of the old city a bit noisy and hectic. I loved it.
The fort view from the roof is excellent.

The room was very clean, and very well designed.
It cost me 650 r (with AC. without it would have been 350).

stayed at the blue house, three or four years ago. it was clean, the beds were comfortable, the water in the showers was hot, and the food in the rooftop restaurant was not bad. and the view from the roof was stunning.

i can't remember how much we paid, but it wasn't too bad. and the decor was quite quirky and lovely.
