Train info for Jodhpur - Jaisalmer

“Jodhpur - Jaisalmer “

There are 3 trains a day in both directions between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.

Jodhpur to Jaisalmer

T...4059 Jodhpur 06:45, Jaisalmer 13:30, (2A, 3A, SL, II)
T...2JPJ Jodhpur 08:40, Jaisalmer 16:05, (II)
T...4810 Jodhpur 23:15, Jaisalmer 05:15, (3A, SL, II)

Hi,

I found the above text on the IM Train info. Thread and tried pulling up the 2nd train no: 2JPJ leaving jodhpur at 08:40 but COULDN’T find any info on the Indian rail website….

Does this train still exist and if yes, How can I book a ticket on this one…?

Also, would there be any Buses (2x2) etc. from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer? And if yes, does anyone know how much the ride costs?

All suggestions welcome.
Cheers and Keep Walking!

2JPJ is the slow passenger train that calls at all stations, the train does run, but you wont find any details on the Indian Railway website, the website has details of all Mail/Express trains, but only a handful of the thousands of passenger trains that run daily.

Train 2JPJ only has unreserved 2nd class, so just turn up, buy a ticket, then find a seat.

I took this train from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur about 4 years ago, the journey is long and the scenery doesn't change much.

Be prepared for conversations with people who don't use the same language as you, and try to play cards with them, I never felt a bit unsafe on the train journey.

The train left Jaisalmer half empty, got a bit busy at Phalodi (about half way), then slowly busier as the train got closer to Jodhpur.

I would imagine your journey will mirror mine, starting off as a busy train.

I have no idea about the bus.

From memory:
I think the 2x2 bus was about 5 hours and cost < 100Rs, although I caught the 6am bus so the journey time is probably less than normal.

LP say: bus is 80Rs and 5 hours.
