One night in Jodhpur too little time?
One night in Jodhpur too little time?
My friend and I are grappling with how much time to spend in Jodhpur on a quick visit this November.
We are arriving on a flight from Jaipur @ 3:30pm, and our original plan was to stay 2 nights. However, this would take time away from our next visit to Udaipur.
If we just stayed 1 night, visited Jodhpur the next day and took a flight at 4:15PM that afternoon to Udaipur, would that give us enough time for the fort and Umaid Palace?
Would we regret not spending another night?
Or is Udaipur a better destination to linger?

1 day for jodhpur and 2 for Udaipur is sufficient.

One night will give you enough time to see the major sight of Mehrengarh Fort.
Just get to the fort early enough so you have at least 2 hours to spend there. The other day there was a discussion here about Mehrengarh Fort and the people said that 4 hours wasn't even enough! It's really good!

My selected India photos http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...r/7030/cat/500 i spend 1 day there. wish i had more time, but i missed a train to get there--long story!
2 days is better but with 1 day, you can see the main highlights. if i had another day or 2 i would spend more time milling around the old city and maybe taking a village safari

If you've not booked your flight yet then maybe think about a taxi from Jodhpur to Udaipur. That way you get to see the wonderful Ranakpur temple and Kumbhalgarh too. Flying's quick but you'll two fantastic places.
I'd go with one night. Jodhpur is a confusing place. I don't think i saw the palace. Just visit the fort. Most people wouldn't take 4 hours to see the fort. But you should try to get somewhere where you can get a view of the fort from outside at night.
