The following is a tentative schedule for a few days/nights in Jodhpur. The arrival and departure dates/times are already pretty much fixed due to booked tickets. Anyone here think the schedule of locations to hit and the time for it makes sense or not? Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.
Jodhpur (Blue City / Sun City): Nov 4 (1300 arrival by plane) – Nov 6 (2300 departure by train) Nov 4 1. Guda Bishnoi Village Safari & Camp & Resort Sleep: • Bishnoi Village Camp & Resort (1 night) Nov 5 head back to Jodhpur after breakfast to drop off luggage at whatever hotel I stay at the next two nights in Jodhpur Sleep: (options) (2 nights) (not sure yet where) Rent a taxi for the day (by the hour) - good idea? 1. Maha Mandir 2. Mandor Gardens (cenotaphs) 3. Osiyan Temples (~1 ½ hr drive north)(18 Jain temples) Nov 6 4. Umaid Bhavan Palace 5. Mehrangarh Fort [Rs 250] 6. Jaswant Thada [Rs 20 + 25 camera] 7. Clock Tower & Sardar Market Pick up bags from hotel and head to train station |

Yo,
I'm not sure about the first couple of days but after that programme of activity on Nov 6 you will be sweating like a mad thing! This is the desert! |

Sorry to say but I do not agree with the above. On Nov 6 Umaid bhawan Palace (I assume the museum), Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswanthada & Clock tower with market can be done without any sweat..I did it with my friend in july (which is suppose to be hot & humid season) and still we did not feel a thing. November means it will be pleasantly cool.

OK - thanks for the climate report
As far as heat/humidity - I think I'll be OK. I live in Florida in the USA, not Canada.
I don't think that will be much an issue. Figuring that I'll be OK in the climate, I'm trying to see that the itinerary flows well and makes sense time-wise - plenty of time for everything. |

See Umaid Bhavan on one day and the fort on the next. That we you get to see two major attractions on subsequent days.

I am trying to book a tour/night stay with a tour operator in Jodhpur called 'Bishnoi Village Camp and Resort'. Does anybody here have experience with this company? Can I trust to do this direct transfer of money to their bank account, or whatever... What the hell kind of company works by direct account transfers? What the hell? I've NEVER done such a thing. They don't accept credit cards, and he claims to be working on being able to accept electronic checks. I'd prefer the check method to account transferring...
Here is the message (I replaced account numbers with *s out of courtesy): - Dear Eric, I am asking in my bank about electronic cheque, they reply me on Monday, amount transfer trough is not so difficult just go into your bank and give a request to transfer money in a bank in your country as I have given you a list of banks according to currency for example for U S dollar give a simple request in your bank as under PLEASE REMIT___USD______(CURRENCY) TO HDFC BANK LTD, MUMBAI (SWIFT CODE: HDFCINBBXXX) A/C NO ***-*-****** WITH Chase Manhattan Bank, New York (NAME OF OVERSEAS BANK) (SWIFT CODE:CHASUS33XXX) FOR FURTHER CR TO A/C NO ************** (OF BENEFICIARY) IN Jodhpur India BRANCH Fedwire Code (ABA No) ********* As soon as my bank will suggest me about electronic cheque I will tell you about it. For your question about late arrival or on a different day arrival only due to flight we will arrange every thing on next day without any separate charges. Bishnoi Village Camp
Hi, I'm thinking about an overnight stay here and was wondering if you think it's a reputable company? The website says all major credit cards are accepted but that doesn't seem to have been your experience.

The website
Did you go to http://bishnoivillage.com/reservation.html, or are you looking at a different company's website that sets you up with the Bishnoi Camp and Resort? I worked out a custom package with them directly through email - I don't know, maybe that's why...
