Question Jodhpur v Jaipur?

My boyfriend and I are doing 11 days in Rajasthan in the first two weeks of August. We're flying in and out of Delhi, and are considering a route of Jodhpur - Udaipur - Bundi - Jaipur - Agra but are open to other options and ideas. Especally need help on visiting Jodhpur v Jaipur. Do we need to do both? If so, for how long each?

A bit more about us to create context... we've both traveled, and know we prefer to focus our itinerary on experiencing the culture of a region rather than a whirlwind tour of historical sights or big city shopping. (This is also the end of a two-month study in Nepal for my boyfriend so energy levels will be a factor). We are also graduate students so need to stick with inexpensive options, like trains, buses and guesthouses, but we tend to go a bit more upscale than the backpacker routes of the younger 20-somethings.

Thoughts?

If you've got the option to do both then I would. I've been to Jaipur twice and wouldn't rush back but I haven't seen it all so perhaps I should give it a few more days.

Jodhpur on the other hand will certainly have another visit from me and hopefully for longer than this time, 3 days.

After visiting Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur I posted the following in my blog

I've come to the conclusion that this will always be one of my favourite places to visit, surpassing perhaps even the Taj Mahal.
I still feel the same way a couple of months later.

So did you find the solution or still waiting for it.BTW, when you are visiting to jodhpur, then you should also consider the option of going to jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer is the real Rajasthan. But its only a suggestion.

Personally I enjoyed Ajmer!!

It is a matter of personal choice/interests and individual experience in any given city!
