scenery from Ranakpur to Jodhpur is not particularly interesting - you rapidly run out onto the plain after leaving Ranakpur - it becomes essentially flat desert with a series of dry river beds to cross as you go along.

We checked out the new "gold" Jain temple in Falna last week - it is certainly golden in color but we felt that the non-closed off part that we could get closed to was gold paint not gold leaf. still showy though.

Thanks Aishah,
I hope this message finds you all in good conditions,
The fort resturant has moved to the Bijolai pond, inside the fort itself, not on the terrace any more,so no view but now the resurant also serves A la Carte for dinner and besides the pond and a lovely oriental garden. They all serve dinner on the roof of Bijolai Mahal situated in the same area. I think personally it is a better choice then before and good value for money.
I also like Gypsy resturant sardarpura'c'road for vegeterian thali meals, good ,cheap and clean place with delicious food, Good samosas at Sahi samosa-opposite sardar market gate, nai sarak, good kulfi desserts at Parashwanath kulfi at high court road, goodlassis at mishri lal makhaniya lassi at the entrance of sardar market and good omllettes at oamlete shop ( a small stall, with a guy standing their with Glasses)between the two gates of exit to sardar market towards the bamboo market. Happy dining.

Cycle polo sounds interesting! A lot of crashing and smashing into each other?? Very tricky I should think!

Celeb's Travelling in and around Jodhpur!!!

This is not real, I mean for some one like me from a small city of Jodhpur, this is unreal. A lot of famous people are visiting/ travelling to Jodhpur from east or west, now M.S.Madona for her new year, can you imazine this? she has been ridding horses in country around Jodhpur for just less then a week now, ridding for real distances in one day and back to hotel, she is here with her husband and children,I also know that she invited her hotel chef to come and work for her in the US. Interestingly only a few people live around her hotel(I wont disclose the name) and very less people know her there, she is just another memsaheb on a horse ride with 2 men following her in black uniforms on their horses.
The hospitality and love of blue colored Jodhpur is in air.

Meanwhile the Mehrangarh Mueseum trust is still running their Mehran Terrace resturant on one of the roof of the fort(same as before)Havent moved to Bijolai Mahal yet.

Are you talking about Madonna, the famous singer?? Maybe she's going to buy a mansion there too - who was the other one in another thread who was going to do this? So famous my memory can't bring that person to mind at all!!!
You know desertrose, to me Jodhpur is a huge city! It's all relevant isn't it - it is huge compared to cities in NZ and also here. Who is the man in the photo (forgive my ignorance!)?
