Ganpati and Shivayam Paying GH, Jodhpur

Hey folks...

We stayed at Ganpati for one night (same owners have Shivayam)- the rooms were nice, but there was never hot water, though the owner swore there would be. The owner pulled my husband aside and explained sheepishly that the whole Shivayam had no water at all and people were still paying for rooms..."but for you sir, you are friend, you stay here"---

Following day I decided to treat myself to having my clothes washed by the hotel, which they charge Rs. 20 per piece. I came back a few hours later and saw a young boy washing laundry with wet piles all around him on the dirty floor. I saw my clothes laying there stained bright red (including a lovely and very unique blouse that I bought in northern Sikkim). I asked for the manager. Now the whole family has gathered around. The woman inspected the clothes and found a red shirt in my pile, then she said something to the family in Hindi and they all pointed to a small sign close to the ceiling and behind a door which says, "we will not be responsible for any faded or torn clothing"....no apology or sign of remorse...just "look at the sign!!!". I attempted to talk to the woman of the house, having to shout over her children who were screaming at me and pointing at the sign, just asking her how she would feel if her clothes had been ruined...and adding that everyone knows you don't wash dark with light...one son, maybe 12 comes to my face shouting , so I tell him to shut it up..and the woman then tells me to shut up and get out...then she screams that she is calling the police. I would have been happy to see the police at that point, so I tell her to go ahead. She never called, of course.

The manager comes in and we ask him to come to the room to talk about it, away from the screaming kids and crazy woman, and he also begins screaming from the bottom of the stairs and tells us to get out.

Unbelievable

I suggest avoiding the place, if at all possible.
Thanks for the vent.
