I have been to Jharkhand twice to visit Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga. I found it pollution free, cheap ( moneywise ) and people are so innocent and undemanding! I will go again for one must go three times to be really lucky ( that's what I have heard).

I am surprised that you found Deogarh (thts the place where Jyotilinga is)pollution free and people innocent. I have been there umpteen number of times as my maternal uncle resides in the town and everytime I am there I feel suffocated with the unending demands of the Pandas there.. yeh the tapovan is calm, quiet n poullution free.

Btw have you ever been there during the Shrawan month?

Yes Deoghar becomes pretty crowded in the month of Shravan when thousands of devotees turn up on their feet from distant places to offer Holy Ganges water to the Jyotirlingam. The locals offer all kinds of help in terms of basic necessities to these pilgrims. And the beautiful landscapes that you get to see while traveling by road to Deoghar is simply great.

But I dont think Jharkhand is polluted, one can feel the freshness in the air when you enter the state, especially the chotanagpur region. Ofcourse the cities are not as serene as the outskirts which is the case with any city/town/state.
It is indeed a beautiful place.

Btw. : A quick link to major cities of Bihar,Jharkhand,Orissa & West Bengal.

Thumbs up

Lovely images. You are absolutely right, nobody visit Jharkhand. We are always talking about "Off the beaten tracks" places and the full state of Jharkhand seems to be "off everything".

Yes , i agree with you , so far I have no plan for there.
But sure i will make one.

Jharkhand state Gov, central Gov as well as People of Jharkhand need to market there states/place ... am sure there is huge potential for tourism.

I am not very keen to visit a place which is swarming with maoists.

For your information Jamshedpur,Ranchi also fall in Jharkhand and they do not require any impetus!

Maoists are there in Telangana too ; does that stop people from going there?
