Hello All,

We are travelling to Kashmir in 2nd week of April from Banglaore. Please let us know the weather in Srinagar and surrounding areas in April.
1. Do we need to carry winter clothes? Does it rain in April?
2. What are the restaurant options for vegetarians?
3. Local shopping, where to do?

Thanks in advance

Hi
2nd week of April is beginning of tourist season in Kashmir... weather would be cool around that time in Srinagar but cold in areas like Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Gulmarg etc.
1.hence you must carry winter clothing with you.
for weekly rainfall forecast you must refer this link http://www.imd.gov.in/section/nhac/d...24hGFSrain.htm. this helped me a lot lot and lot during my travel.

2. there are quite good no. of vegetarian restaurants in Srinagar along the Boulevard road (mostly vaishno dhaba. therein u can find south indian dishes also besides Gujrati/Punjabi thali.
In Pahalgam, Nathus Rasoi in main market near taxi stand & Punjabi rasoi are very good & popular.

3. local shopping can be done in Boulevard area or Lal chowk area also.

I just returned back from kashmir with lot of memorable memories. In Srinagar the local people saying is that 'Mumbai ka fashion and kashmir ka mausam kab badal jayega koi nahi janta'. It may rains for one/two days. While visiting Gulmarg/Sonmarg heavy woollen clothes/Rubber boots are available for rent at those places itself.

Srinagar won't be that cold... days would be warm and nights would be cool.
Gulmarg, Sonmarg would be quite cold - carry enough woolen for those places if you are staying at night. Else you may rent them at gulmarg.
yes, there is a chance of rain in April. this is because of the "Western Disturbance".
Only for Gulmarg snow u require gum boots kind of shoes which can be rented there itself.
