trip jammu- srinagar- leh - manali in june 2012

Hi! we are two couples heading out to leh in mid june. We are flying in to jammu. From here we plan to hire a taxi and go to leh. On return we plan to come back through the rohtang pass till manali. From here we will take a bus to delhi.

Our proposed itinerary is
17 June : reach jammu (we have friends here we wish to catch up with)
18 June leave for srinagar. Night halt at srinagar/ sonmarg - which is better
19 june: Reach kargil
20 june reach leh: I have seen some advice about stopping before leh (any advice welcome
21 - 24 june we plan to spend in leh
25 June head back
we have to be back in delhi by 28th night.

looking for soem advice on
1)whether hiring a taxi is possible? that wii take us from jammu to leh, stay with us there and drop us in manali/ chandigarh
2) what should we see on the way and while in leh itself.
3)anything extra we can do in these basic dates.

As you are going for very short trip to Ladakh, will it be possible to exclude Jammu and Srinagar this time? and flying directly to Leh?

Actually both J&K and Ladakh is such mesmerizing, a true heaven, you need some more days for each of the parts... if you are not thinking for your 2nd trip to those places.
