Trekking to Amarnath cave

We are 4 people planning to travel north India. Fist visit Ladakh, Zanskar trek. After travel to Srinagar (Padum-Kargil-Srinagar), and trek to Amarnath Cave from Pahalgam.

The date we will start trek is stimated for 16th-20th august. I would like to know if that time there are still prilgrims, because main interest is cultural.

I hope situation in Kasmir about last news also will calm dawn.

Thanks

August 16th is the full moon day of the Sravana, the Hindu month. Given a choice, most of the Amarnath pilgrims would like to take darshan of Ice Lingam on this auspicious day.
On the same day, there is the moon eclipse.
You can expect a good crowd of pilgrims on the Amarnath route in around August 14-16, provided weather is good.

I am sorry. I made a mistake with the dates. I have checked my plan, and more probably we will be there between 16-20 August. What do you think Sadanand?

You may cross the returning pilgrims when you are on your way up.
