Taxi rates in Srinagar and around

Hi Sunnybhai,

We are family of 4 and will be visiting Kashmir bet 19 May-26 May.Can you enlighten me the latest taxi rates for:

1.Srinagar-Gulmarg-Srinagar 1 day
2.Srinagar-Sonmarg-Srinagar 1 day
3.Srinagar-Pahalgam-Srinagar 1 day
4.Sringagar local sight seeing 1 day.

It will be great help if you suggest a good travel person.

the rates are fixed by govt, you can bargain on that rates but i feel since the season is hot nowadays they will stick to the fixed rates

May is a very pick season of Kashmir therefore taxi rates are very high,if possible you hire a taxi in advanced, if you need any assistance for booking call to Mr.Pinkal from Srinagar, actually I visit Kashmir at 9th April to 17th April 2010, we book a taxi and houseboat from Mr.Pinkal. He is very nice guy and I am dam sure he will help you. his mob no - 09922960380

I have just been to kashmir and back last monday.
See the thing is dont go for rates on the displays and charts.
I wud suggest you to book the cab for your entire stay.
I did the same and it cost me 1400 per day.You entire gulmarg,sonmarg,local pahelgam will be done with that. they started from 1800 but finaly agreed for 1400

I was quoted Rs.2,500/- per day for an Innova last week. Toll, taxes, parking all included.

I think so.....actuly i was in srinagar in september last week & taxi fare was the same.

I called Mr. Pinkal or my trip and he seemed a nice guy. thanks for sharing his number. He has quoted very attractive price for our hotel and houseboat bookings.. now only aspect is he has quoted Rs.3000-3500 per day for a 8 day trip for a winger(12 seater as we are 10 in group and sumo will not be comfortable)..that too in late October. he seems overpriced here.. what's your view?

I think 3000 – 3200 is good for 12 seater winger
you can also try two sumo in this range
even sumo (two) is the best option for your tour
so call him and ask for sumo or winger

Only Postpaid connections are suitable in J&K for outsiders,
prepaid connections are not allowed, which is outside from J&K.
