Things to do in Srinagar :

Shikara ride in Dal lake especially in the early morning mist.

The spectacular Mughal Gardens -- Shalimar Bagh , Nishat Bagh , Chashma Shahi/Pari Mahal. And if you are visiting in April/May there is asia'a largest Tulip Garden.

Hazratbal Mosque

Shankracharya Temple at the top of the hill. Spectacular panoramic 360 degrees views of Srinagar.

Day Excursions to Pahalgam , Gulmarg and Sonamarg.

Well, I've spent 4 months here and I still haven't seen all there is to see in Srinagar. So yes, definitely!

A shikara (boat) ride along the Jhelum river through the inner city areas is worth the experience.
Visit Iftikhar Jalali’s beautifully preserved house in Zadi-Bal. Call 0194-2424064.

ohhhhh. There are so many things in Srinagar. Valleys, Mountains, I spent my childhood days there. And when it snows in winter it becomes heaven.

Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Boat Ride Dal Lake(it freezes in winter), Valleys, Mountains, Saffron fields, Gardens, Somewhere(I don't remember now where) there is a high altitude cable ride and Cool Cool Kulfi .

I would love to go there again.

well folks just back from a week long trip in valley, was lucky enough to see the most serene and untouched parts of kashmir. Mainly dood pathri in budgam, mansbal lake near ganderbal, ruins of awantipura, shukru din chisti dragh in bandipore, and best was naranag above kangan..... Writing a complete log with pic in few days.

Balvar, most people have not heard of these places. You must post a detailed blog.

If time is even slightly limited, there are many places in Kashmir that are much better. Else, Srinagar makes a decent base.

Agree absolutely with Balvar. The Naranag valley is breathtaking.
