i'm not sure if there is a painless way. both times i shared a jeep, a night journey that took about 15 hours. i wish i would've been less tired as we were making our way into Jammu in the eary morning hours. the landscape was spectacular. the truckloads of clucking chickens was difficult though.

yeah that seems to be the most safest and painless even though most expensive as well......I am not sure if there are direct flights between Srinagar and Pathankot as that might be an option...

thanks very much for the above. Looks like we will fly to Jammu for sure, was planning to get a train from there to Pathankot, but if it is just as easy and probably as fast when we will get a cab at pathankot we might just get a cab all the way from Jammu.
Much appreciated ![]() |

Just take buses
Take bus from srinagar to jammu and from there to Dharmsala. In total about 24 hours i guess. maybe sleep one night in Jammu. I'm currently in Jammu and it is actually a very nice city. Just too much police control. But hey, they are there for our protection as well.
