Hi sunnykashmir!
I am one of the unfortunate travelers, who had planned and booked air tickets for Kashmir visit in 2010, but had to cancel all the arrangements at the last moment due to imposition of so-called continuous "janta curfew" which has caused lot of financial loss to me. I am again planning another trip during early October/2012 and this would be a budget trip in real term. We will stay at any of the no-frill basic, clean family hotel, take food outside etc. The tariff range that I am looking for is in Rs.400-600/- range. Could you please suggest a few names with phone numbers for both Srinagar as well as for Pahelgam? This is my final effort, if I fail this time, I think I will have to drop my plan for ever (consider my age!). Please help. Thanks.

Friends,
Please review my itinerary of may 2012 also and please tell the feasibility.
We are a group of 14 persons including chilren, adults and elders.
Day 1 (May 20): Reaching Jammu at 9 AM morning and proceed to srinagar (I have already booked a tempo traveller for the entire journey). Night stay in srinagar.
Day 2 (May 21): Srinagar sight seeing, shankaracharya temple, gardens, shikara rides etc. Night in srinagar.
Day 3 (May 22): Proceed to sonmarg. See the Thajwas glacier. Is it possible to visit Baltal and Zojilla pass same day and return back to srinagar by evening? Does it worth? Night in srinagar.
Day 4 (May 23): Proceed to patnitop in early morning 5 AM. with all luggagge. Reach patnitop by 11 or 12. Check in into a hotel. Have lunch and go for patnitop sight seeing including sansar. Return back by evening. Is the time sufficient?? After sight seeing can we get some budget accommodation nearby patnitop or sansar or on the way to katra as we have a vehicle with us.
Day 5 (May 24, Thursday): Depart for katra at early morning 5 AM. Reach katra by 7. Obtain yatra parchi and proceed for bhawan by 9 AM. Is it possible? Is it difficult to get yatra parchi for same day in may month? Should i obtain online yatra parchi? What are the benefits of online yatra parchi?
Proceed to bhawan. Reach after 8 hours, around 3 o'clock. Rest in the room (already booked. Fresh up and proceed for darshan. Then have bhairawnath darshan and return back. Will darshan be over by morning??
Day 6 (May 25, friday): Next day morning, depart from bhawan at 7 o'clock and reach katra by 1 PM. Have lunch and proceed for jammu by 3 PM to catch train at 7 PM.
Please look into the feasibility of the itinerary...

You need not use such a pathetic language, Asishhda! You just command and we are at your service!
The late reply owes to late viewing of your post!
Last year we had visited Srinagar during mid-October and had stayed by paying Rs 400/- per day!
You would find a road on the left side of Dal Lake just after crossing the bridge. There are quite a few hotels there where you would find very cheap accommodations.
You would find cheaper shikaras also from this end of Dal Lake.

I would be taking quoted part for responding!
I would suggest you to have night stay at Katra in stead of Patnitop. You may get Yatra Parchi very easily and there should not be much problem in that!
If wished you may take online yatra parchi which is chargeable. That way you would be donating some more money to Shrine Board, which is used for the welfare of yatries.
Rest of the programmes seems to be okay to me!
Further please do not splash your query in too many threads. You would be confused that way
Thanks Prakaant,
As per your suggestion, i will take online yatra parchi worth Rs. 50 per person. It also includes Rs. 31 prasad if i am correct. Also, i ll stay in katra. Is drive from patnitop to katra safe in evening after 6 PM.?

Though I didn't suggest to purchase online parchi, you may purchase it nevertheless.
"You may get Yatra Parchi very easily and there should not be much problem in getting that!" My suggestion was to collect Yatra parchi from counters.
You may collect the prasad once you return to Katra after having darshan.
It would be nice if you could start your return journey from Patnitop little bit early.

if you are planning to start from patnitop to katra, have darshan and proceed for jammu , i think it will be very hectic. Its better to spend a day in katra/jammu after darshan. As far as yatra purchis are concerned , it can be obtained from the counter. Benefits of online purchis is you do not have to stand in queue and you get a bag of prashad. In summer it is advisable to go for darshan in the evening/night as it is really tiresome to climb in the sun. During this period it takes 2-3 hrs for darshan in the night. I am told, If you reach during day, it takes considerably less time. But climbing under sun is really difficult.

If i climb at night, i may have to get down in sun next day morning. What i feel from your suggestions that, i should stay at katra at night and i should start climbing in morning around 5 AM so that duration of intense sun can be minimized. (I would already have taken online yatra parchi). After having darshan of bhawan and bhaironath, we start climbing down at night so that by next day morning we could reach back to katra, take 5 to 6 hours rest and proceed for jammu at around 3 PM. Is this okay?

Yes, you are correct!
Starting at 5 AM or around would be nice. You would not feel hot, once you cross Adhkuwari.
You may stay at Bhawan for at least around 3 to 4 hours and then can start downward journey via Bhairojee, so that again cross Adhkuwari around evening.
This way you would get much more time for rest!

Hi there. I am planning for a family trip to Srinagar on 20th may 2012. Can you please give me suggestion regarding hotels (range 800-1200). Is it possible to go directly from airport to Pahalgaum ? We shall be arriving at 1:30pm.

Hotel section of your query would be responded by some other member, I am taking possibility of going to Pahalgaum from airport.
Yes, it is possible. You may hire a cab right from Airport, but first going to TRC and taking cab from there would be better.

Thanks Prakaant ji. But how much time does it take to reach from srinagar airport to pahalgaon ? Will it not be a bit late if we take a detour via TRC ? My query regarding the hotels are still unanswered . Plz somebody help me.
