Ski equipment in Gulamarg

Hi!

I am playing with the thought to go skiing in Gulamarg this Winter. I have been growing up in Swiss mountains, so I am a rather good skier. Since I am living in Delhi now I miss skiing a lot and I think that Gulamarg is a great place to do some freeriding in untouched powder. The only problem: where to get equipment? To bee able to enjoy the powder I would need good, relatively new freeriding equipment. Can you rent that in Gulamarg? Or in Sringar? Or in Delhi? Does somebody have any experience about that? Just to be precise, I am not looking for 30 year old 2 meter long ski equipment for first time skiers. I know that I can not hope for this years models neither, but does somebody now about a place where you can rent some decent equipment?

Thank you!

Flavio

Their was a place next to the parking space of the "Highlands Park Hotel" Which is the best and most expensive Hotel in Gulmarg. This man has a little shop but good equipment and the owner is an excellent skier. Just remember this is an area that has been unrest since 1989, so do not look for the same as in Switzerland but the mountain and the snow and powder is great. Hope this is some help. And enjoy your trip to Gulmarg it is wonderful place. The only draw back is the pony people they do not know how to treat their ponies and/or how to ride them. And the tourist know even less.
Sincerely, Gypsie
PS> do take the Gondola all the way up to the top. The best in the world. And half way up stop and eat a potato pancake for me um umm good.

Hey Sum,
Has anyone answered you? Go to some web sites about Gulmarg and you will see that most are europeans that do the skiing. Also Australians, They say the powder is the best, and you go up so high in the Gondola.
