Life across Kashmir valley came to a grinding halt on Tuesday as people observed a complete shutdown ..In old Srinagar, police and CRPF were deployed in every nook and corner to thwart any protest demonstration. The police and CRPF laid razor wires and erected barricades at most road junctions. Armored vehicles were also seen at road junctions in old Srinagar...“We were not allowed to offer morning prayers. Police and CRPF men had blocked our road with razor wire early morning,”..CRPF did not allow them to buy milk and bread in the morning. “I tried thrice, but moved back. ..
The restrictions were so severe that the doctors and patients who had to reach SMHS Hospital and SKIMS were stopped by police and CRPF. Later they were allowed to move only after the intervention of District Magistrate Srinagar.
Curfew to continue on Wednesday , minimum.

No lighting of matches anywhere near that powder keg, please!

Having lived in North America for 27 years, I am still having difficulty getting used to the climate in Kharagpur, it reminds me of the few months I spent in NY/(northern NJ) area - can't remember the towns but, it used to be awfully humid. I am assuming it would be the same in many parts of Florida which I have not had the pleasure of visiting.

Anyway, I prefer dry climate and cool temperatures.

So next summer, during our summer vacation (mid May-mid July), I am going to look for a cottage in the Srinagar area to rent for 2 months with a (part time) cook (1 meal a day), maid (say 3 times a week if not daily) and internet (I suppose I could use the Tata photon dongle that I have). I need to write a few research papers (need solitude or focus)and would love to travel around the area from time to time. If anyone can help me that would be wonderful - I believe I have seen a few posts with this information on IM - I shall do a search.

Cheers
