restricted areas in Ladakh with rental car
Hello all,
I would like to go to some restricted areas in Ladakh (Pangong Tso, Nubra valley) with a rental car (self drive) hired in Delhi.
However, I have heard that the access to those restricted areas is forbidden to vehicles with a commercial registration from other states (yellow license plate?).
Could someone confirm this?
Will it be really impossible to go to those areas?
Where could I find the exact Ladakh regulations? Any contact, or internet link would be appreciated.
Once in Leh, how could I find out what are the exact rules?
Actually, I don't see why private vehicles would be authorized to these areas and not self driven rental cars...
Thanks a lot for your help !

Hi:
Very recently I have come from Ladakh. I visited the place by my own car Santro. Firstly, I would like to advice you not to go there with any low ground clearance car rather take some jeap that kind of thing. Otherewise you will regret your decision.
Secondly, when you reach to Leh, ask for the permit for Nubra Valley or Pangong Tso Lake to the Hotel management. They will provide it to you certainly charging some nominal money.
wish you all the best.
