Thanks Kanti. The travel agents are telling that due to Amarnath Pilgrimage there will be a lot of crowd and the place will be swarming with people. The price for everything will increase. Is it true ???? I saw an article yesterday that even for visiting gardens there is a waiting time of upto 3 Hours ????

@Vabsayshi - Unfortunately this is true. In July the valley will be crowded, hotels will be bit costlier as well. It's up to you, if you are looking for a peaceful summer gateway then the month of July may not be the perfect, but I feel you should go for it, the beauty of this great valley is such that it will overwhelm everything!
Regards,
Tamagna

Whenever I go to Amarnathjee yatra, I make it a point to stay at least for two to three days at Srinagar. I usually travel without reservations, even though I get accommodation at reasonable rates.

The supplies are in abundance, so all the tourists are accommodated in Srinagar, I believe!

i personally feel that most of the Amarnath Pilgrimage will come back in last week of july.. because 2 august is last date of Amarnath yatra people love to see as early as they can....
Even i am going to srinagar withiout reservation arriving there on 28 august for 7 days, my only worries would be rain... lets hope rain don't spoil the party

Hi, I just returned from a 5 day trip and I have to say it was the most amazing trip I had.
I got snow in sonamarg, fulmars, did sledging, got to see n feel icy cold water springs in yusmarg,
And much more. All during peak Yatra time. Locals n ppl will scare you saying everything's expensive and populated due to Yatra but it's not so. Kashmir is expensive whenever you go. You have to get a good deal. Try houseboats on nageen lake, taxi charge will be 2500 wherever you go. Try to get a MAP rate(dinner inclusive). But July is not a bad time. Infact no month is bad for Kashmir ;-)
