Folks,

Could someone inform me what the off-season in Kashmir is? With regards to rates as well as crowds. I am specifically referring to Srinagar-Gulmarg-Pahalgam-Sonamarg.

Thanks in advance,
Highwayman

Thank you for the advice. I understand "negotiate, bargain, and compare" are possible only after arriving there. Is there some kind of "advance booking" that can be done without overpaying?

Tourists' Season at Kashmir

One thing about Kashmir Forum has baffled me totally. I have searched many forum, threads in IM and also googled extensively, but did not get a CLEAR AND TO-THE-POINT ANSWER. My question is simple: What is tourists' season (Peak/Off Peak/Off etc.) in Kashmir? Look at this particular thread. It started with a question: When is off season in Kashmir? And look at the responses, no clear answer has been received.

However, there is a reason why I revived an inactive thread. While searching JKTDC website, I casually checked their offer called CLUB, GOLD etc. and tumbled upon a piece of information which says as follows:

Peak Season
15 April to 15th July
Off Season
16th July to 14th April.

Now, my question to our Kashmir experts: Are the above categorization of peak & off season is official and does travel industry in J&K follow this categorization for the purpose discounts, offer etc.?? Shall be very grateful if I am favoured with a clear answer. Thanks.

Now-a-days, people are reaching in valley in every season, so Ashishda, it is very difficult to earmark any off-season.

Though you would find lesser numbers of people visiting during rainy season!

Hi Ashishda
According my readings April & May are peak season due to tulip gardens & pleasent climate, june to august peak season due to Amarnathji yatra & sep, oct & nov average tourist & dec, jan & feb less tourist due to snow fall & blockage of roads.
This is my personal reading.
