Need tour assistance for Srinagar on 26.10.12 to 30.10.12

I need help regarding Hotel booking in srinagar from 26.10.12 to 30.10.12 .During which I want to stay 3 days in hotel and 1 day in Houseboat.My budget is around Rs.1500-Rs.200 per room.Any forecast about weather?

Number of person: 4 Adults.

My travel plan is as follows:

24-10-12---Reached Jammu in Morning and Start Towards Katra.(Katra stay) At midnignt Start walk for Vaishnodevi .

25-10-12---Back Katra from Vaishnodevi (Katra stay)

26-10-12---Katra to Srinagar ( Srinagar Stay) ( Hotels or House Boats)

27-10-12---( Srinagar Stay) ( Hotels or Houseboats) Sightseeing/Roaming around Srinagar

28-10-12----- Srinagar Stay (Sonmarg sightseeing and back to srinagar)

29-10-12---- Srinagar Stay (Gulmarg/Palelgam sightseeing and back to srinagar)

30-10-12----Srinagar to Jammu.




31-10-12---Jammu to Dew Delhi

Correction:
My budget is around Rs.1500-Rs.2000 per room

24th Oct - Reach jammu in morning and leave for katra, start yatra and try to come to katra by 11pm, overnight stay @ Katra
25th Oct - Leave for Pahelgam, overnight stay @ pahelgam
26th Oct - Pahelgam Sightseeing, overnight stay @ pahelgam
27th Oct - Leave for Srinagar, overnight stay @ srinagar
28th Oct - Local Sight seeing, overnight stay @ srinagar
29th Oct - Leave for Gulmarg, overnight stay @ gulmarg
30th Oct - Leave for Yosmarg, overnight stay @ srinagar, houseboat.
31st Oct - Early morning flight to Delhi

@ sureshb2007, I am afraid, it would be taxing to complete Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra in one day, that too in around 12 hours. Ardhendu's programme seems to be little bit possible but he is wasting a lot of time at Katra. He is reaching Katra in the morning , hence, he should start the yatra by 11 AM.

The climate would be pleasant during daytime, hence may plan your yatra during day.

@ prakaant, If we start by 11am, and 5hrs each for going up and coming down, and max 2hrs for darshan, then the total time comes to 12hours. Even if you another 2hrs for food and rest, still it shall be 14hrs.. pls clarify.

@ Ardhendu, Please find the tentative weather forecast :
The highest day temperatures in September are around 23*C and night temperatures dip to 10*C by October, and further drop by November, when heavy woollens are essential.

Is it desirable to book the Srinagar hotel in advance or spot booking on 26.10.2012?

After being in this dilemma for last 2-3months, i have finally decided to book it on the spot. Trying to shortlist a few names at each location, based on the trip reports of fellow IMers and other resources. Based on that list will review the hotel and book onspot.

What is the approximate travel time from Pahlgam to Jammu . Is it same while going to Srinagar from Jammu ?
Any idea of travel-time by cab from Jammu to Chandigarh and cab rate (one-way)
Not getting train reservation back from Jammu .Jammu to ndls bus service appears very tedious .

Do have any idea about approx.travel time from Katra to pahelgam by private vehicle.

Pahelgam to Jammu should be around ten hours by bus and eight hours by cab
It would be five to six hours, but you may take any day-train from Jammu to Ambala Cantt or Delhi and then by bus from Ambala Cantt to Chandigarh.
Katra to Pahelgam would be around seven hours by private.

I am not getting return reservation from Jammu to ndls on Oct 28
I am planning to travel by cab from Jammu to Chandigarh on Oct 29 and stay for night and then proceed to NDLS

Any idea about one way cab availability and rate ?
Any reliable travel agent for such Jammu-CDH Cab
Do I need to pre-book or its available readily on demand
And how is the road and travel time - only 5/6 hours ?

There are some trains from Jammu to NDLS via Amritsar.As I had cancel my Kingfisher tickets( due to lock out),I'll go for other option.
I'll catch Bhatinda Express which will leave Jammu @9.30pm and reach Amritsar @2am(late night)..I'll visit Goden temple and other sight seeing and catch Shan E Punjab from Amritsar to New Delhi.Though this jouney is quite hectic.But no choice.There are lot of other trains like Golden temple train,Satabdi express etc. towards NDLS.

Another option is Bus/Cab service available from Jammu to New Delhi. It will take 12hrshrs I beleive.

You may purchase wait-listed ticket either on 12920 MALWA EXPRESS (which leaves JAMMU TAWI at 09:00 and reaches NEW DELHI at 19:00) or 12478 +JAT JAMNAGR EXP (which leaves JAMMU TAWI at 11:15 and reaches NEW DELHI at 21:30) and travel in any Sleeper bogey with requesting the passengers to adjust you. Generally it works.
No idea about the rates as I have never traveled so. But the condition of roads in Punjab is good.
