Leh to Delhi via Srinagar

Hi,
I am travelling to Ladakh end of July and i plan to visit zanskar and from there through kargil to sonemarg and then on to srinagar.

i would like to know about the safety issues concerning my plan given that i would be travelling through volatile places like kargil, sonemarg, srinagar.

Do please let me know, thanks!

No safety issues till you reach Sonamarg, beyond that army is present all along the route and with Amarnath yatra in full swing, expect to encounter a lot of traffic.

I'm not aware of anything very volatile going on in these places, although yes, you'll see boys in uniform along your route especially from Sonamarg to Srinagar. My son (15) came through from Leh to Srinagar on that route just a few days ago without incident, and I live in Srinagar - nothing much happening here right now.

we have had a slight change of plans...and we plan to retrun through the manali - leh road as weve heard that the journey is picturesque.

so heres our plan for the last 3 days till manali

leh - tso moriri ( overnight)
tso-moriri - keylong (overnight)
keylong to manali

is this plan viable?

Kargil and Sonamarg are not volatile. Srinagar is prone to shutdowns due to local political activities, which generally do not affect the tourist trade.
