Leh to Delhi by road - need advice

I am needing some advice regarding travelling from Leh to Delhi by road. I am aware buses go daily from Leh to Manaili with stop at Keylong. And then direct from manali to Delhi.

I will be travelling in August. I think it takes 3 to 4 days.
does this road experience lot of dealys due to traffic?

Other than travelling by bus, is sharing a jeep an option and how likely is this possible? how much would this cost?

The bus is operated by Himachal Tourism Dept ... It is quite comfortable.
I have used it once and was quite happy with it. The shared jeeps will be a whole lot crammed.
Pvt jeep is the best option since you can stop for pictures etc.
But the costs tend to quite high. I'd highly recommend the bus over a shared jeep (my 2 cents).

Are you traveling with family or alone? Me with my wife are planing to travel Leh First week of july. If you are traveling with family, please let know.

There are two bus lines operating : the already mentioned Himachal Pradesh Tourist Development Corporation ( start running in July ) and the state HRTC buses. Both stop overnight in Keylong , next day in Manali.
Thatīs the plan, anyway : from experience I never count on knowing the exact day I arrive in Leh or Manali.
The shared jeeps are gradually being replaced now with ten seater minibuses. You will pay the same ( around Rs 1500 ) per person for the HPTDC bus , shared jeeps and minibuses. HRTC bus Rs 600-ish.
