There are direct buses to Simla from Chandigarh. The other way is to take train to Kalka and change over to Toy train to Simla - this is a longer journey in time. Advisable to book train tickets well before you go.

Dear Mashar,

More less by the time u plan to go the valley the Condition would improve (ishallah). Chandiagrh Shimla u can board the Kalka - Shimla Train ( But Believe Shimla wud be packed) certainly not aplace recommmened by me. otherwise by road its 4-5 Htrs Drive from Chandiagrh. In case of more Info on Shimla & nearby Plz move to Himachal Forum.
Distance Between Ambala & Chanigarh is 45 kms Approx, u can easliy get a Cab from Amabla for Chandigarh. In Chandiagrh can not be termed as Tourist Destination but the Twon othersie has enough top Offer For Day or Two. Secondlay AC buses Ply for Amritsar Daily from Chandigarh. In Amritsar is basucally the Holy Capital of Sikhs), one visit the Golden Temple, Jailanwala Bagh, & if also Flag past at the Wagah Border. ( which is about 35 kms from amritsar)Also there are n numbers of hotel in Chandiagrh to Choose From , just Plan ur Budget wud update u Accordingly

Hi Paresh,
I will be reaching Srinagar, Sonmarg on 19th July and Amrnath on 20th.We are 5 people, my husband and our parents.
I paid Priya Suri by a cheque, which I deposited in her account.I checked their trust worthiness through my own authentic sources.I had to pay full amount for helicopter ride.I got tickets within two days.
We have to manage our own conveyance to reach Sonmarg, since agencies charge high for it. It will not be much difficult to get there. I am also not booking the conveyance in advance.
I also booked hotel sonmarg, with the help of details provided by Balvar.Thery have charged me 2000/- per room.I had to pay 50 % advance by depositing the cheque in to their account.
Now, you need to put the trust in the hotel people for booking, as the only receipt of check deposition is with me as a proof. Since I want to avoid hardships there, (as Sonmarg is a small place with limited accomodation facility), I took the chance.
I have no idea of cancellation as I didn't inquire about that. You can ask them.
Regards,
Archana

Trek to Sonamrg

Hi Balvar,

we are planning for a kashmir lake trek in sonamrg, covering

Sonamarg to Nichinni (13 km), Nichinni to Kishansar (13 km), Kishansar to Gadsar, Gadsar to Megandob, Megandob to Gangabal, Gangabal to Naranag.

in the month of Nov-Dec, can u advice me on the weather conditions and the feasibility of this trek. We have some good experience in some snow treks.

We are coming from very long, from bangalore so we want to book everything before so that we do not have any issues.

We are planning to do this trek unescorted.

Please suggest in this regard.

Regards,
Chaitanya.

Dear Chaitanya,

Apologies for being late on the response. First of all the trek you are treferring to is classic Kashmir trek, Must say. But doing it unescorted is not advisable as per me. Keepin in Mind the condition of Kashmir & other factors. Also the ideal for undergoing the trek is July toSept. I Certainly i have my apphrensions on doing the same in NOV ??.also the trek is more popularly known as Kashmir Lake trek
Sonamarg to Nichinni (13 km), Nichinni to Kishansar (13 km), Kishansar to Gadsar, Gadsar to Megandob, Megandob to Gangabal, Gangabal to Naranag.
Now i think u have Clubbed to seprate treks together.
In Nov you can go to Narang by road from Kangan, which is last village before Kangan, amotrable road would take u to Narang, & from there u can hike upto to Gangabal Lake.
Rest wud try to get more information is possible
