Guidance required. for Kashmir and Amarnath tour
Hi all,
I want your sincere advice,.. Please help. I am planning to visit Kashmir. we are total 5 people, among whom there are 3 elderly people above 60 years of age. We are little worried about the arrangements and safety also. My concern areas are arrangement for Taxi and accomodation. Our plan is as follows: We will be reaching Srinagar on 19th July,2008. Date Place 19th July------------Srinagar 19th July----------- Sonamarg ( Night stay) 20th July----------- Amarnath by Helicopter 20th July----------- Back to Srinagar ( Stay in Srinagar) 21st and 22nd July-Srinagar + Pahalgaon + Gulmarg ( Freaking out) 23rd Return to Delhi Now I want to know, what conveyance will be available for Sanamarg from Srinagar. We have to take a private cab or Public transporation is available. If we have to take a cab then from where and at what rates it would be available. What do you suggest the same cab we should have for rest of the tour..? which are the best options for stay arrnagements for these places... please let me know urgently if any of you have visted these places... plese it's urgent.. thanks and regards, archana dewang Last edited by adewang17 : Jun 23rd, 2008 at 17:58. |

Archana, I suggest you take your email address off the Thread - it can invite spamming and advertising from unwanted people. You can use the edit function at the bottom of your post to do this.
I've never been to Kashmir, sorry so can't help but I'm sure some of our members can. In the meanwhile, take a look around the Threads in this Forum and you may find some answers there too.

Dear Archna,
First of all remove the ur Emil ID to avoid Spamming. In case as you have told there 3 elders people Travelling with you, u can opt for a Private Cab it would charge somewhere around 1200-1600Rs depening upon the car it could be a sumo or qualis. Opt for Qualis as its more comfortable. Otherwise u can the Local Bathmallu Bus Stand & check out the Bus for Sonmarg.U can hire a cab daily basis that wud be a better Option. Rest u dont require a cab for Gulmarg, there are enough Gud Bus Servives available. regarding Amarnath Yatra have u registerd yourself ? or Wat ? The Going Rate for Helicopter Service is 7000Rs (ie Too & Fro) In Srinagar u would get hotels in all the range so dont worry on that aspect In case of any further Queirs Plz get back |

Thanks Balvir,
I have already removed my email id.thank for the suggestion. I have booked helicopter at 6400/- per head. I will be reaching srinagar on 19th and want to go direct to Sonmarg as early morning the helipcopter will depart. so, I would prefer to hire a cab.could you please guide me from where I can get a cab in srinagar.the rates you mmentioned ( 1200-1600) are for one day? any nearby location to airport? You know being a torist's place taxi people ask for exorbitant fares. Best regards, Archana |

Hi ,
As I earlier conveyed that I am taking elderly people along with me. One thing is bothering me. My father is a heart patient and undergone by pass surgery last year. Is it safe helicopter riding for him as I have herad that when helicopter reaches heights, the pressure imbalance occurs. Please share your views on this if anybody has any information about it. Regards, Archana |

Archana - absolutely be sure to check with the doctor re elderly people and going up to this height. There have already been some heart attack deaths by pilgrims this season walking up there. Just reading this today in The Times of India. Does the helicopter take you directly to the site?

Yes, they directly take to the cave.I confirmed with them, what they sad that from helipad its hardly 75 steps away.
alos they assured me that the ride is very saf for even elderly people.I also got clarified that there is no necessisity to carry oxigen masks along with us. Regards, Archana |
