Taxi fare sounds vary steep. I took a qualis to do a daytrip to sonamarg. And I paid 2100. This was the rate written on the taxi stand rate chart. For Sumo it is 1900.

Hi Sleepy,

Nice Pics of Gulmarag & Pahalgam. But i have one doubt i think the its Sindh River which flows through Sonmarg, not Indus. Correct me if i am wrong. Also u right that Taxi fares are steep, thats y its recommnened to go for Public transport in Sringar, but taxi is grt luxury to have if u can afford it ?

Balvar,
You are right about the name of the river. I was under the impression that Indus and Sindh are the same river. I've changed the names now. Thanks man.

As far as my Knowledge goes i think Mt Apharwat is the Point upto which the Second Phase of the Gondoloa cable car goes. U can take a Gondola ride upto there. Rest let Sleepy Update you

I stayed at a place called Family Guest house. 300 Rs included breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Ashwin,

As Balvar has already told you the cable car takes you to the peak of Mt Apharwat. So no pains at all. I didn't go to Alpather lake. But from what the locals said, it is a whole day hike or pony ride across a mountain ridge - not a very popular trek among Indians. I was told it starts later in the year when more snow cover melts.
