September is a good time as the hotel rates will go down after the Amarnath Yatra.
October is even better as the trees shed their leaves in Autumn and everything turns golden, red and brown.
Kashmir really has different moods to offer in each of the four seasons.

I am planning to visit Kashmir in the last week of September for 5 days.
What all can I cover in 5 days. Can you please suggest some good hotels. Is it economical to hire a local taxi for commutation or is there enough local public transport?
I primarily want to see Dal lake, sonamarg.
What other places are a "must" see.

Thanks in advance,
Nisha

I think you can cover Pahalgam, Srinagar and Sonamarg in 5 days. Leave out Gulmarg. Stay in a houseboat at least for one night.
