Kashmir Tour

We, 7 or 9 people are going to make Kashmir tour in coming May. Can anybody say whether we can avail a car like 'WINGER'or similar kind for the entire trip , so that all the people could have ample space in a single car? And if there, what will be the approximate cost?
Any other suggestions regarding transport (car types and their rates)will be of great help. Regards...

You will have car Winger It's good to travel by that and you can enjoy your holidays.
If you would go daily bases it would be around 2500-3000 rs per day or if you go through sight seen place it would be cheap.It's all up to season according that you can also have prices.

that's a good plan to arrange a winger. but please remember one thing. in case of sight seeing in Pahelgam (Chandanwari and Betab Valley and Aroo valley), they would not allow any outside taxis. rather you have to hire the taxi (tata sumo) from Pahelgam Taxi stand. so i'd suggest to plan the itinerary in such a way so that Pahelgam comes at the first OR at the last of your trip. in 2009, the cost for a sumo was around 600/700 for Chandanwari/Aroo valley (each) and 300 extra for Betab Valley enroute to Chandanwari. i think it helps!

Its cost is around 2500 to 3000 per Day on Disposal basis

Thanks all for replies.Some other information I want to have regarding Kashmir tour:

1. We are starting from Kolkata. Is it better to break our journey in New Delhi(Rajdhani/Duronto) and then to Jammu (Rajdhani-arrival 5.50 am-3rd day)OR direct Jammu (Himgiri Exp.)?

In case of break journey,we are thinking of going to Pahelgaon from Jammu first,stay 2 nights and then on next day after reaching Srinagar from there we can do the Srinagar local S/S on that same day.
If we go direct we think we should have to stay Jammu for 1 night.(otherwise starting for Pahelgaon or Srinagar will end up too late at night on that same day.)

2. How long it takes to do Local Sight Seeing at Srinagar?

3.Which one will be cheaper?....hiring cab from Jammu to Jammu OR from Srinagar/Pahelgaon to Srinagar/Pahelgaon.

4.Transport cost from Jammu to Srinagar/Pahelgaon?

5.Do anybody have any reviews about Hotel SHABNAM at Kohna Khan, Dal Gate? We come to know that they have rooms to run as holiday homes for United Bank of India Staff Welfare Society (Rs.200/250 + 25 service chrg.) and also for West Bengal Pollution Control Board Employees Recreation Club (Rs.500-DBR/600-TBR).

If it is good(clean room and toilet will be enough) then our stay at Srinagar will become economical.{g lasses}

Do you have some work/tour plan in Delhi. If no why not directly go and enjoy Kashmir.

Jammu-Jammu is good as you will have freedom to move around and will save time in booking/bargaining for a point to point cab.

Depends on season, In offseason Rs. 3500 for a Tavera to Rs. 6000and even more in season.

Does your plan to visit Kashmir during May still stands firm? If yes, what accommodation did you book in Srinagar - the Holiday Home at Hotel Sabnam or somewhere else? Can you please help me with your feed back? It will be a great help as I am also planning a trip sometime during Sept/Oct. Thanks.

hi ashis-da , I've cancelled the plan for Kashmir tour due to some family occasion and also for budgetary restrictions.It might be also I couldn't be able to do with it in 2012. Instead I am planning to have a short tour to Vizag/Araku during Sep'12.
