Kashmir in September?

Hello
Inspite of all the scary things I've been hearing/reading about travelling to Kashmir, I have decided to take a chance ,visit
and see for myself 'Paradise on Earth'!!

It would be extremely helpful if I could get any helpful tips/travel advice regarding travelling to Kashmir in September.

Would this be a good time...??
More than the snow, I'm keen to experience autumn in Kashmir...
besides , I would probably lucky enough to escape the tourist rush
that starts in October...what say you guys?

Great !!!! Kashmir is Kashmir. I am not sure about the weather in Sept. But October is definitely a good time but yes….. touristy. Well, I believe a clear blue sky is always better.

In September the autumn isn’t there in full force, I was in Kashmir late September last year and year before that. Like Somnath said, you might want to go there in October if you are interested in seeing Kashmir in autumn.

Yep, agree, late September/October.

October is not terribly rushed, btw.

Thanks for all your inputs guys!

The only reason we thought September was a better idea was to avoid the tourist rush.
I am told that since the kids are on vacation during that time
and the weather is lovely in Kashmir, its peak season in Kasmir.

However, coming from all ur views...I might re-consider my plans...
looks like i'll have to research a bit more.

Also, since all of you have been there recently, any tips
on places to stay/sites to visit etc are more than welcome.

P.S planning a week's trip..any suggestions?

Thumbs up Hi,

Hi,
The main reason behind the rush during October is ‘we’ - Bengali tourists. But since last year Bengali tourists are in confusion once again and that’s the reason the growth rate of tourism during the period October 2006 – May 2007 was not very healthy as it was expected (compared to 2005). Now, if it is the no. of tourist is the decisive factor for you, I believe, you can safely plan for October (or late September).

It is not a recent visit for me, but allow me to share the thread:

A trip to Heaven on Earth.

Cheers,
Somnath
