Kashmir August 2012

Hi, we are 2 20 year old girls travelling to Kashmir - Srinigar, from McLeod Ganj in 2 days. we just wanted to check how safe this is, as we read things in the guide books that mention danger in the area. That said, if all is fine, advice on what to do/where to go in 3/4 days there would be much appreciated! thanks

Just came from kashmir, it was quite safe, lots of tourist activity around dal lake.
But to be on the safer side, don't stay out too late, specially when there is strike.

Dont worry go there it may be possible that you dont see tourist any particular place, but you always see defence forces standing there to protect you, you will notify in advance about strike, ao you can avoid it. Please check ur dates avoid going on 20 august because it will be eid then & u will see lots of rush by localite so as being tourist you will not enjoy much
