Jammu –katra- Patnitop and back to Jammu tour suggestion required

I have been following India Mike since a month. I find very good suggestions from all the members and always positive ….


My self Rajpal from Mumbai I am planning to visit, Mumbai-Jammu –katra- Patnitop and back to Jammu for mumbai from 20th SEP 2012 Morning to 24th SEP 2012 Afternoon with my wife and son ( one year old).

My itinerary and queries are given below. Based on answers of my queries, I will be able to plan accordingly because right now we are in planning stage so we modify our tour if we missing something ……..
1. 20th SEP 2012 Morning - Start from Mumbai (8:00AM) to Delhi(10:00AM) and Delhi(11:15AM) to Jammu (12:25) By Air.

2. 20th SEP 2012 Afternoon – We will reach Katra around 15:00PM and will stay at hotel in the night


3. 21st SEP 2012 Morning - We start our journey for Mata and Bhairav darshan around 6:00 AM so that we can enjoy view from top and in September weather is also hot so cool or hot because we having one year old baby with us .
4. 21st SEP 2012 Evening- Come back to Katra and go for Local sight seeing with little shopping and stay at hotel in the night.

4. 22nd SEP Morning - start from Katra to Patnitop around 8:00 AM .Local sight seeing full day and stay in the Hotel/ hut at Patnitop.
6. 23rd SEP 2012 Morning: Patnitop to Sanasar sightseeing and back to Patnitop Stay in the Hotel / hut at Patnitop.
7.24th SEP2012 Morning: Patnitop to Jammu Local sightseeing at Jammu and finally catch flight from Jaamu (15:45)-Delhi(17:00)and Delhi(19:00)-Mumbai (21:00)



Queries :
1. First of all, what type of clothes should we take with us?
2. Mode of transport for Jammu to katra?
3. Any good buget hotels in Katra?
4. How much time it should take from Katra to Bhairav baba darshan and back to Katra with 1 year’s old child? What will be your suggestions
5. Mode of transport for katra to Patnitop?
6. And again good hotel in Patnitop or we go for Hut?
7. If a missing some sight please suggest me.
8. If anyone having a contact numbers of travelers(for taxi) and hotels/ huts (in katara and patnitop)please give me?

1. First of all, what type of clothes should we take with us?
I suggest you to carry worm cloth if you are planning for PATNITOP.
2. Mode of transport for Jammu to katra?
Non AC buses are available in front of Rly Station with frequency of every 15-20 min. Taxi too available.
3. Any good buget hotels in Katra?
I stayed in Hotel Mount View International 07298244730. For one night stay it cost us Rs. 3000/- with all tax. in may'12
4. How much time it should take from Katra to Bhairav baba darshan and back to Katra with 1 year’s old child? What will be your suggestions
It totally depend upon you!! By walk you may reach within 5 to 6 hrs one way. While descending, i took horse ride, that cost me Rs.1100/- and 3 hrs.
5. Mode of transport for katra to Patnitop?
Buses are available. It PATNITOP is on the way to shrinagar. I have booked Indigo AC Taxi from katra to patnitop say for one day and back to jammu. It cost me Rs. 4000/-
6. And again good hotel in Patnitop or we go for Hut?
J&K Tourism cottage is good. Online booking is best.
7. If a missing some sight please suggest me.
8. If anyone having a contact numbers of travelers(for taxi) and hotels/ huts (in katara and patnitop)please give me?
