Hello Friends,

First of all sorry if it is posted before.

We are planing (family) to visit Kashmir for the first time. I am looking for some help and suggestion to make good itinerary.

First of all I would like to know if 6 Night is enough For Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam & Sonmarg ?

We are planing to land on 20th Aug Afternoon Flight and suppose to fly back on 26th Morning Flight. We can extend our holiday by extra day if needed. Also suggest me some good hotels for the same.

Awaiting for quickest suggestions...

Thanks For your time

6 to 7 nights ok. I think its better to travel at least once (jammu to srinagar or srinagar to jammu) by road (jammu-srinagar national highway). It will be a wonderful experience. If you have time, spent a day or two at Patnitop (around 105 kms from jammu).

There should not be much of rush during that period of the year.
Plenty of hotels are there in srinagar, gulmarg, sonmarg & pahelgaon.
Go there & book as per your requirement. This will be cheaper also.
Experience one night stay at house boat on dal lake.
For patnitop JKTDC hut/cottage is my preference.

wish you a very nice trip.

Hi,

Now your trip is on right track.

Gulmarg is a place of natural beauty just go & stay close to the stretched valley....it will be wonderful. Also enjoy gondola(rope way), scatting & horse riding.
From Pahelgaon one should visit Aru valley & betab valley. These are very close to pahelgaon. Aru is (1&1/2 hrs journey by car)& betab is almost on the way (very small diversion.

26th enjoy sikara on dal & local gardens, hajratbal, pori mohol etc. At dawn a floating sabji/flower etc bazar takes place. It is a very uncommon & should visit.

Kashmir Tour

Hi Mr Som Mitra,

I am writing from kolkata. Got newly married & planing a budget honeymoon.
I wish to visit Pahalgam, Srinagar, Gulmarg & (Sonmarg if possible).
I intend to stay for 3 nights in Pahalgam.
3 Nights for Srinagar which Include Gulmarg.

I am not sure where to start from as I also have to go to Maa Vaishno Davi Darshan & Amritsar Golden Temple.

I was planing it the below way.
Sep 3rd - Start from Howrah
Sep 4th - Reach New Delhi & Head to Jammu in the evening.
Sep 5th - Reach Jammu on morning. Drive to Pahalgam, Check in to a Hotel.
Sep 6th - Aru Vally & Not sure
Sep 7th - Chandanwadi & Not sure
Sep 8th - In Morning Drive to Srinagar Check in to a House Boat & Sight Seen.
Sep 9th - Drive to Gulmarg & Back to Srinagar.
Sep 10th - Sight Seen Srinagar & if possible Sonmarg & return to Srinagar.
Sep 11th - Drive to Katra & stay in hotel
Sep 12th - Start the 14 Km walk to Mata Vaishno Devi & Return in the evening.
Sep 13th - In the Morning Drive to Amtirsar & stay in Hotel.
Sep 14th - Back to Delhi.

I also need to know a Good & reasonable place to stay in Pahalgam. Not Sure how are the JKTDC Huts in Pahalgam. Please Suggest.

If you can suggest any tour conductor who can conduct the Tour as mentioned above starting from Jammu Railway Station.

Thanks,
Soumo..

Hello,

The schedule seems little bit tight. A night stay at gulmarg is better.
If Sonamarg,an extra day for Srinagar is preferable.
Sept 12 & 13th will be tough. Give one more day at Amritsar.
Sep 6th - Aru Vally & Not sure...betab valley/garden
Sep 7th - Chandanwadi & Not sure...no idea.

best of luck

On Sep 8th - From Phalamgam drive to Gulmarg for overnite stay.
On Sep 9th - Drive to Sonmarg & back to Srinagar in the evening.
On Sep 10th - From the morning Srinagar Sightseeing
On Sep 11th - I have a couple of hours in the morning in Srinagar & then drive to Katra.

On Sep 8th - From Phalamgam drive to Gulmarg for overnite stay....it means you are arriving gulmarg around afternoon. If 9th is sonmarg where is the time for gulmarg...give some time to this wonderful place.

Still I would suggest one extra day for Amritsar.

one more thing, in my Kashmir tour, I faced few road block programe here & there on local issues. Not very serious but wasted time. So, buffer time may be useful to complete tour plan.

No use of tour conductor, because there will be little rush at Sept. Plenty of Hotels & cars of different standards are available. Booking of hotels on spot & car from taxi stand will save your cost. Don't worry, in general, people of this land is very hospital to the tourists.

Enjoy the beauty of 'vuswargo' & 'Apple'.

santanu your plan is good but 29th will be tough for u all.. even if your train reaches on time, you have to think about where to keep your luggage.. either you check into some hotel or some other way out you have to plan, you can head towards vaishnodvi after that.
helicopter rides are time bound, being there on time will be a big factor if you miss chopper and decide to take the stairs u'll need the whole day for vaishno devi darshan.. even if u get the chopper and return by chopper only, still reaching patnitop the same day would be little difficult.. not impossible though!
all the best!
