| Is pitching up tents safe enough ? Hi, We are planning to ride through the following route. Jammu - Patnitop - pahalgam - sonamarg - kargil - leh - in and around leh (Pangog Tso, Tso moreri, nubra valley)- manali - delhi The duration of the trip is 14 days starting from 1st of June. We are 4 of us. On this stretch, can anyone suggest safe places where we can pitch a tent at night ? ~Hrishikesh |

| Pitching tents is not always a safe option. I remember reading about a European family (2000 (?)) in HP who were camping & were attacked (2 killed & 1 seriously wounded). Cheers Zoltan

| I should add, there are not a huge number of reports made of people who go camping, being attacked, but this one has remained in my memory for some reason. I'd be suggesting guest-houses if there are ones along the route you intend to take. Cheers Zoltan |

| Dear Rishikesh, Camping before Leh & in Kashmir Valley is certainly a big no. Well In Pangong Tso u r not allowed to campovernight. U can Certainly camp in TSo- Mori Lake. In Nubra Valley U get quite a few guest houses & u can may be camp also. & For more Info Start or move ur thread to Ladakh & Zanskar Section |
