Information for Kashmir Tour

I am very new to this lovely forum. Many thanks to admin for allowing me to become a member.
I am planning to visit Kashmir in November,2012. Tour itinerary are as follows:
Day 1: shall reach Jammu at noon, night stay at Jammu
Day 2: shall move to Srinagar by Jeep/Bus; night stay at Srinagar
Day 3: whole day sight seeing at Srinagar
Day 4: Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar
Day 5: Srinagar – Pahalgam, night stay at Pahalgam
Day 6: Pahalgam – Jammu, will board on train for Kolkata.
I need following information:
a. How much time it will take to reach Srinagar from Jammu (for both Bus or Jeep) and how much it will costs?
b. How much time it will take to reach Gulmarg from Srinagar by Jeep and how much it will costs?
c. How much time it will take to reach Pahalgam from Srinagar by Jeep and how much it will costs?
d. How much time it will take to reach Jammu from Pahalgam by Jeep and how much it will costs?
e. Can I go to Pahalgam gro Gulmarg? If yes how much time & costs it will take by Jeep?
f. Can I hire a jeep for the entire trip; starts & ends from & at Jammu? If yes, how much it will costs?
g. Approximate hotel costs for Jammu, Srinagar, Gulmarg & Pahalgam : Standard/economy room with double bed.
h. Are there any night bus service available in between Jammu & Srinagar? If yes, is it safe and comfortable for night journey on this route?
i. And any further information you may think necessary.

Welcome to India Mike, If you search in J &K forum you will get answer of your all queries. Any way for your information please find pointwise replies of your queries.
a) 8-10 hrs by jeep and 12 hrs by bus
b)2 hrs, 1500 Rs. ( Srinagar-Gulmarg-Srinagar)
c)3-4 hrs, 1800 Rs. drop charges
d) 8-10 hrs. , 3500 Rs. drop charges.
e) Yes you can go directly to Gularg via Srinagar and time taken will be 5-6 hrs.
f)yes and it is better option and a sumo will cost you approx 1800 rs per day.
g)Rooms are available in all range. You get very good accomodation in the range of 800 rs. to 1500 rs.
h) Night bus service availabilty is doubtful??

Fantastic programme! I would try to answer your queries except current prices of journey and hotels! Bus generally takes around 12 hours whereas four wheeler would take around 10 hours.

? Yes, but you would have to pass via Srinagar to reach Pahalgam.
Yes, but you would have to engage local vehicle in Pahalgam
You should avoid night journey in the mountains!

I would request to everyone visiting Kashmir Valley that do not over pay any where. It just helps in inflating tourism cost nothing else.
Lots of bargain will really help you and you can save lots of money. Everyone will try to loot you.
Kashmirii people are dependent on "we tourists" but still there behavior and attitude is not much encouraging and supportive (Pls don't mind, I observed so).
