Hi Friends,

Of all those who have traveled recently to Vaisho Devi shrine...do we have private hotels up at the Bhawan? I know of rooms available from the shrine board (which can be booked online or from katra)..but all of them seem to be full.

Any advice on availability of rooms/hotel once one has reached the bhawan?

Thanks,

INSIGHT

No there are no private hotels available there. All properties are of Shrine Board only.

Try to Book the beds in dormitory, I guess even they would be full.

If you want to have hot water and someplace to freshen up, then go to Kalika Bhawan, and over there they charge Rs.70 per person per hour for the waiting hall. They have super clean toilets, hot water showers, heated waiting hall.

I am visiting Vaishno Devi in Feb 2nd week. Have seen their site indicating the lowest rush in the year at that point of time. we (we are two couples, reasonably fit) plan to start at 5AM from Katra. What is the expected waiting time at the main temple and ardh kunwari, at this time of the year. Do we need to book the room at Bhawan or can we come down to Katra by the night same day.

Due to the school exams scheduled in Feb-Mar, the rush may be lower than usual. The waiting time will not be more than a couple of hours. You can come back to Katra by the evening and check into a hotel there.
