We got the permition for Amaranth yatra through Baltal on 27th of June.Now my quires is that, to reach Baltal,I'll have to move through Sonmarg via SriNagar.But is there any other route is there to reach Baltal??And pl. share your exp.,if any one reach the holy cave through Baltal.how steep is that??Thus it possible for us who thusn't track at all??Pl. share your valuable exp.

@nithindas07, I think sunnykashmir has already replied to your post.

You may get buses directly from Jammu going to Baltal. There is no alternate route to Baltal.
It's a steep climb and you would be required to cover whole 14 kms stretch in one day as there is no camp in between on the route.

Though it would be difficult for first timer, you should start morning walk of at least around four to five kms daily from tomorrow.

It would be further better to acclimatize at base camp at least for two days before you start trekking.

Can anybody give some information about recent snowfall (21/05/12) at Gulmarg & Pahelgaon?

i have changed my plan to go to sonamarg and gulmarg in june to july last week.. will that be a good time to enjoy the snow and its chill...

anyone please tell me about 2 nights sonamarg trekking to nichanai pass/vishnesar lake/kishansar lake, we are student as u know budget problem ..so please tell me about :-
1) camping equipment (tents..etc) are available at sonamarg or is it is right to bring it from srinagar...?what is the cost of 4 person tent with sleeping bag ?
2)any permission required from j&k tourism for trek in this place? if yes,then from where ?
3)local guide require must? how much he charge ? charge with pony and without pony ? tell me about charges ..
4)tents are available at kishansar lake or we have to bring ?if available then which one cost less tent available at kishansar or to bring it ?
5) what about food ...we have to bring or already available at camping area ..?
6)june 15 is right time to trek this place ?
any other suggestion ?
