Now here is the catch, you went by longer route. you enjoyed shimla hills as well, other wise people drive straight to kiratpur sahib and then bilaspur , sundernagar along the govind sagar lake then enter kullu valley. With new roads a day is enough.

Mikey,

I'm presuming OP wishes to do the leh "circuit" and not a more leisurely ride like yours. Different strokes - I wish I could do it more leisurely, but alas. Even then, I'd rush past manali and spend time between Keylong and Rumtse. That's where the beauty lies (to me)

Mahesh,

The word is setting the record straight, not fighting. There's only so much misrepresentation one can take, you know!

I went this way because this was the best route advised. The scenery etc was a bonus.

Be warned with rented bikes unless you are 100% sure of the place you rent it from. If you own a bike better ship it till delhi/chandigarh

If i had to still rent I would rent a much reliable bike like pulsar/unicorn/karizma

Perfectly fine. there was this sardarji on xbhp who did leh and back in 4.5 days with his sardar cousin
(both fit people, not thin ones!)

There are many others I know but the above example suffices!

No extra fuel required if you have a bullet with a larger tank.

Make sure you fill up at Tandi.

And what about smaller Bhp bikes, 125 cc e.t.c
Is extra fuel required in these? What average this terrain gives on fuel efficient bikes.
